The year 2017 marks the 15th anniversary for the award-winning Stoney Creek High School, and the staff and parents at the school will commemorate this milestone with a celebration on March 25 at the Twin Lakes Golf Club.
“SCHS was named in US News and World Report in both 2015 and in 2016 as one of the state’s best high schools,” according to Stoney Creek principal Cathryn Skedel. “In addition, we were named in Niche.com’s ratings of Michigan’s best high schools and we most recently made the national AP Honor roll.”
The celebration will include a strolling dinner, cash bar, raffles, silent and live auctions, dancing, and more. Funds raised at this event will benefit Stoney Creek’s unique Support the Tradition Fund which impacts every student attending Stoney Creek High School through athletics, music, enrichments and clubs.
“The Support the Tradition event is who we are and what we are about as a school and community,” Dr. Skedel says. “We come together with a great spirit of camaraderie to support all programs for kids, including academics, athletics, arts, and activities. Funds raised go directly to create opportunities for students to experience new things and to put needed supplies and equipment directly in students’ hands. It is an event I look forward to and am very grateful to have the best community support for our programs.”
The auction will feature such exciting, yet diverse, items as a private, scenic helicopter ride for two, a commissioned musical piece by Stoney Creek’s own choir director and composer Dr. Brandon Ulrich, many packages featuring exciting trips, technology, exquisite food and dining, and more items are donated every day.
Stoney Creek invites and encourages members of the community to join them in celebrating the past, present and future of Stoney Creek H.S., and enjoy a fun-filled, community-building evening for parents, staff and friends of Stoney Creek High School.
Community members who are interested in supporting this event and the Stoney Creek students are also invited to become a sponsor, purchase program ads and donate items to the raffle and auctions. Businesses or individuals who donate by March 10 will be listed in the event program. All donations are tax deductible to the extent of the law.
