Energy ran high recently at all four Avondale School District elementary schools as students participated in an all-student assembly promoting positive behavior and the concept that students should be “Upstanders,” not bystanders. During the “Upstanders Rock” assemblies, the students took part in lively demonstrations illustrating the positive messages from the show. Avondale Youth Assistance sponsored these programs in support of their mission to prevent juvenile delinquency.
“Because of this program, we are sharing with our students and their families our new initiative to recognize our students for being an “Upstander,” reports David Goetz, principal of Deerfield Elementary in Rochester Hills. “The students had a lot of fun participating in the assembly.”
“I want to give a special thank you to Avondale Youth Assistance for bringing the “Upstanders Rock” bully prevention assembly to us,” said Arryn Schneider, principal of Woodland Elementary in Troy. “It was fabulous and the students loved it.”
