Try the Mountain
I have a soft spot for Boyne Mt. since it is where I learned to ski over 30 years ago and they offer some of the best skiing in the Midwest. However, they offer much more than skiing. They have the Mountain Grand Lodge, golf, a spa and the Avalanche Bay indoor water park.
When it comes to accommodations at the Mountain a visitor has many options. The Mountain Grand Lodge is the premier choice, but they have several condos and a variety of other hotel rooms on the property. They range from regular guest rooms and fancy suites. Many rooms will accommodate families and multiple couples.
Boyne is a year-round resort with skiing & snowboarding, golf, tennis and conference space. With all that activity, relaxation should be included in any getaway. The Solace Spa provides an escape to a stress-free environment of complete relaxation. They offer a lot of different treatments. The Hot Toddy for the Body sounds rather girly, but it’s perfect for any gender wanting a soothing spa service.
First, the therapist exfoliates your skin and a green body mask is applied. While that dries, you receive a scalp massage. After showering all that off you’re treated to a gentle body massage. All of this takes place with soft lights and meditative music on a heated treatment bed – pure heaven by any standards. Once you’re regenerated, head over to the next Boyne adventure – the water park!
Avalanche Bay opened with the Mountain Lodge a few years ago – it has been a huge success. While the weather outside is never predictable, the weather inside the water park is a constant 84 degrees with plenty of water! All ages welcome, there is something for everyone. The little ones have their own area of safe water play and bigger kids can jump on the water slides. For those wishing to stay dry, there is a balcony that overlooks the entire park. An arcade, snack bar and sitting area provide everything you need for a whole day of fun. The water slides are a blast, the Lazy River is great fun, but the Rip Zone is the hit of the entire place. The Rip Zone is Michigan’s first surf simulator. Like most of the thrill-seekers do, grab a boogie-board for your first go. However, for those with more guts, try the standing surf board – it’s harder than it looks!
Boyne USA keeps expanding and offers round the year excitement. Recently added was the Zipline Adventure. It’s breathtaking fun for all ages. Also try dining at Everett’s at the Mountain Grand Lodge, named after the resorts founder Everett Kircher.
