Updates Being Made to the 9-1-1 Phone System

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Operations Center (commonly referred as Dispatch) is transitioning to a Next Generation 9-1-1 platform to provide advanced call taking features for handling emergency calls for service. This transition will begin at 10:00 a.m. this morning and will not affect incoming 9-1-1 calls from the public; all calls will be answered and handled without delay. Michigan Fire Departments plan big emergency preparedness exercise

Hundreds of firefighters from around Michigan will take part in an emergency preparedness exercise on the heels of the 12th anniversary of 9/11. The Michigan Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) exercise will test communications systems and coordination efforts of a statewide call out of fire departments.
