Desiree Linden Wins Boston Marathon

First American Woman to Win in More Than Three Decades Des Linden won the 2018 women's division of the Boston Marathon, becoming the first American woman to do so since 1985. She overcame a driving rain, grueling winds, and temperatures in the 30’s to win the marathon of marathons. Linden, a veteran long-distance runner, competed in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. Rochester Hills’ Desiree Linden Finishes Strong at Boston Marathon

The Boston Marathon is not for the faint of heart, especially two years after the bombings. A shining moment came when Desiree Linden, a California native who now lives in Rochester Hills and trains with the Hanson-Brooks Team, finished as the top American woman in the marathon and took fourth place overall with a time of 2 hours, 25 minutes and 39 seconds.
