Librarian’s 50 Plus Year Celebrated

On Saturday, January 14th the Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library celebrated the over 50 years of service Robert Gaylor has given libraries and literacy in Michigan. Mr. Gaylor was joined by 96 of his friends and colleagues at the surprise event held after hours at the Library. Rochester Hills Library Proposes Tax Increase

Like most public entities, the Rochester Hills Public Library has seen its revenue stream decline in the last few years due to falling property values. So far, the belt tightening hasn’t affected services. “But now we’re to the bone,” said library director Christine Lind Hage. “We can’t keep going on like this.” The library is owned by the Rochester Hills Library Board and receives tax revenue from the cities of Rochester, Rochester Hills and Oakland Township. Library Bookmobile Adds Stops

The Rochester Hills Public Library announced that Michigan’s busiest bookmobile will be even busier this summer due to several changes in its scheduled stops, beginning July 13, 2011.  In response to customer demand, there will be a new biweekly stop in front of Whole Foods Market in the Village of Rochester Hills shopping outdoor shopping area.  “We’ve had several customers requesting a stop in this location as a way to alleviate frustrating trips through the construction area along University … [Read more...]

Library Trustee Receives National Recognition
