Something about close finishes and Brook Handler seem to go hand in hand. The last time Handler, now a senior at Rochester High, was involved in a close finish, it came in the final 100 meters of the 3,200-meter relay at Rockford High School, site of the Division 1 track and field state championships this past June. Run Like the Wind Rochester!
Rochester High School's Brook Handler has posted several first-place finishes. Yet in cross-country, the all-stater has never broken the tape … until Tuesday. Handler, a senior from Rochester, cruised to a win at the first of three OAA Red Division jamborees, posting a 18:51 clocking and winning by some 24 seconds at Bloomer Park in Rochester. Oakland Christian Cross Country Midnight Madness
AUBURN HILLS — While most athletes were in bed around midnight Tuesday, dreaming and anticipating the first day of fall sports, those who plan on running cross-country at Auburn Hills Oakland Christian were not.
