Sixth annual Family Market Day promotes Bridge Card programs at Oakland County Market

Oakland County Health Division and the Healthy Oakland Partnership (HOP) will host their second Family Market Day event of 2014 this Saturday at the Oakland County Market, 2350 Pontiac Lake Road, in Waterford. Family Market Day promotes farmers markets that accept SNAP/Bridge cards, providing families who receive those benefits access to healthy produce. Downtown Rochester Farmers’ Market now accepting Bridge Cards

Starting Saturday, August 24, the Downtown Rochester Farmers’ Market will accept Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT), also known as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Bridge Cards.  This initiative, through the Rochester Downtown Development Authority, gives recipients of public assistance access to fresh, locally grown foods. “Our vendors provide fresh, local and healthy food for all of our area residents,” said Nancy Voges, DDA Marketing Coordinator.  “It makes sense that … [Read more...]
