Oakland County Executive Gerald D. Poisson has appointed Laurie Van Pelt as the county’s first female deputy county executive. She also is the first Japanese American to serve in this position. Chief Deputy County Executive Gerald D. Poisson was sworn in as Oakland County executive Saturday, August 3, at 5:00 p.m. by Oakland County Clerk Lisa Brown. Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson died at 5:30 a.m. today at his Independence Township home surrounded by family and friends after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 80 years old.
