Rochester, Michigan- History and current facts and figures

The City of Rochester is a beautiful place to live just 24 miles north of Detroit, MI. According to Wikipedia the Graham family, built a log cabin in 1817. Making it one of the oldest communities in the area. The cabin was located where the Quik Pik and Penn Station stores today exist at the intersection of Main and Second Street. Digging Up Bones in Downtown Rochester!

Word on the street today was that the construction crews tearing up Main Street in Downtown Rochester found some bones. While digging in front of Gus O'Connors Pub they uncovered an old well and near it some animal bones. We were told that MDOT called in some Archaeologists to investigate and examine the find. Reports came back that these bones were not prehistoric, but probably a small animal like a dog or a sheep. Arbor Drugs opened its doors in Troy, Michigan in 1974, when founder Eugene Applebaum combined several drug stores under the name. At the time, he owned a handful of pharmacies, including one in Ann Arbor.
