Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson died at 5:30 a.m. today at his Independence Township home surrounded by family and friends after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 80 years old. Operation Good Cheer takes to the skies to deliver about 20,000 Christmas gifts to more than 6,700 children and adults with special needs around Michigan this weekend.
