UPDATE: The Sunoco Pipeline company will close Livernois Road just south of Auburn Road in Rochester Hills starting Monday, for pipeline maintenance under the road. The work was expected to start on Sept. 20 but has been delayed until September 29. The road is expected to reopen on October 20. The detour route for traffic is Auburn Road to Crooks Road to South Blvd., back to Livernois Road and vice versa. Dear Crabby, When is the road construction on Livernois Road by Rochester High School scheduled to be finished, or at least enough so southbound Livernois can be reopened? Livernois Road Reconstruction The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), in partnership with the City of Rochester Hills, expects to begin reconstruction on Livernois Road, from Avon Road to Walton Road, on June 19. Construction is expected to be completed in late November. Last year, RCOC performed heavy maintenance work on this section of Livernois Road to keep the road drivable until the 2019 reconstruction. The Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting deputies from the Rochester Hills Substation in the investigation of a serious injury vehicle crash that occurred on Livernois Road near River Bend Drive Thursday at 10:53 a.m. A 24-year-old female resident of Shelby Township was operating a 2001 Pontiac Montana northbound on Livernois Road when she drifted left of center and struck a 2005 Jeep Liberty that was traveling southbound. The contractor for the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) is set to begin working on the Tienken road reconstruction project, Livernois Road to just west of the Paint Creek Trail in Rochester Hills. The road will then be closed on Monday, July 21. At that time, the Tienken Road/Livernois Road intersection will be closed in all directions for the duration of the project. The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) yesterday learned it will receive funding for six new projects in the coming year made possible through the Roads and Risk Reserve (RRR) Fund and selected by the state Legislature. “Receiving the funding for these six projects is definitely a step in the right direction,” stated RCOC Chairman Greg Jamian. “It doesn’t solve our long-term road-funding crisis, but it certainly will help make these roads better for the motorists and businesses of … [Read more...]

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), the City of Rochester Hills and the City of Rochester announced that Livernois Road will close July 9 at the bridge over the Clinton River between Avon and Hamlin roads, when RCOC begins the replacement of the bridge.
