Oakland County Board of Commissioners Announce Budget Hearings

On Thursday, August 8, 2013, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Finance Committee will review the County Executive’s Recommended Balanced Triennial Budget for FY 2014 consisting of $799,148,947, FY 2015 consisting of $806,053,332 and FY 2016 consisting of $813,406.699. Oakland County garners budget award

The Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada (GFOA) has awarded Oakland County its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its three-year budget for fiscal years 2013-2015. The county has won every budget presentation award for which it has been eligible since 1984 when the GFOA initiated its award program. Will Brooks Use His Veto Power on the New Budget?

Oakland County has adopted its budget.  Unfortunately, Republican Kim Capello, a sour grapes Republican Primary looser (you know, the guy caught nude in Novi last year) was the swing vote for the Democrats allowing over $580,000 to be added to the budget.  Rochester Hills Democratic commissioner Tim Greimel brought all of the amendments to the floor.  One addition was a half million dollars for the tri-party road fund – sounds good and looks good on campaign literature.
