Beverly Hall Smith, Assistant Professor of Art History at Marygrove College, the College for Creative Studies and Wayne State University, will tell the story of the art of Christmas through visual images at the Rochester Hills Public Library on Wednesday, December 8th at 7 to 8:30 p.m. The story of Christmas through the art of the masters is both familiar and surprising. From the Middle Ages to the 18th century, the Catholic Church commissioned paintings and sculptures which, because their enormous membership could neither read nor write, was how their message was taught.
Registration is required and open to those with a Rochester Hills Public library card. To register go to the Events Calendar at www.rhpl.org or call 248-656-2900.
