The Gift of Travel

Last Minute Christmas Gift Ideas

Travel is a wonderful present, anytime of year. It may be difficult to plan an entire vacation, book it and offer it as a gift this holiday season; however, it’s not too late to “suggest” a getaway.

Suggest the present of travel by giving a travel guidebook, new luggage or passport application. Use your imagination and the destination to gift appropriately.

More Ideas in Detail

Say your senior is graduating in spring and she wants to backpack Europe; give a new guidebook to Europe, a gift card to purchase a backpack, and membership to Hostelling International. Some of these items you can wrap to put under the tree to “suggest” what is coming. Then use a card to say “Trip to Europe” to open last.

Perhaps a milestone anniversary is around the corner. New luggage and cruise brochure from a local travel agency can be the present under the tree; and a “wink” will tell the rest.

Be Creative

  • A puzzle of Notre Dame for a trip to Paris.
  • Memorabilia from the 2012 Olympics for a holiday in London.
  • A tropical plant for adventure waiting in Costa Rica.
  • New ski gear for a winter ski vacation.
  • Chicago White Sox tickets for a weekend getaway to the windy city.

All of these are just teasers for the grand gift of travel.

The Cost of Travel

Travel can be expensive and your budget may not allow the purchase of an entire vacation. Maybe someone on your gift list has a future trip planned. Many of these gift ideas could help the person offset the cost and boost the excitement of trip.

Bring family and friends into the plan and coordinate the gifts. The person will be touched by the idea. But get going soon, Christmas is only days away. The good news is most of these gift suggestions are available throughout the many stores in the Rochester Area.
