The Rochester-Avon Historical Society welcomes Lieutenant Colonel Ernest “Rock” Marcone on Tuesday, May 6, at 7:00 p.m. to the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm for a discussion about the United States’ involvement in the Middle East in the early 2000s.
Marcone commanded the Army’s 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In the opening days of the conflict against Baghdad, the regiment served as the “point of the spear” for the 3rd Infantry Division and was a key participant in several important battles, including the capture of a vital bridge across Euphrates River and the seizure of Baghdad International Airport.
This event is free for RAHS members. Non-members are asked to consider a $5 suggested donation at the door. Registration is required. Register at the RAHS Events Page, send an email to rahsupdates@gmail.com, or call 248-266-5440 and leave us a message.
