Master of Ceremonies, Dave LewAllen of Channel 7 Action News will join Mr. Patterson in welcoming more than 400 guests to an evening of live entertainment, dinner and a celebration sure to touch the hearts of all who attend. Mary Grace McCarter, Executive Director at The Rainbow Connection explains “The Dobson predates The Rainbow Connection and, in fact, funded the very first wish back in 1982. That first Dobson, raised about $2500. Over the years the event has grown from a golf outing to include a spectacular evening gala. It is the single most significant fundraising event of the year, raising over $150,000 in 2013. We hope for a sold out crowd again this year!”

Wish Ambassador Rebecca from Rochester will attend with her family.

The daytime activities for those wishing to golf are at Great Oaks Country Club in Rochester Hills. The evening, at The Royal Park Hotel begins at 5 p.m. with complimentary premium cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, live entertainment and a unique silent auction, followed by dinner and spectacular live auction.  Highlights of this year’s live auction include a Detroit Tigers Suite at Comerica Park, a Top Gun Aviator Experience in a SF-200 NATO Attack Fighter accompanied by a Top Gun Pilot, an autographed, framed Miguel Cabrera jersey, and dinner for four with Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Paterson at Café Via in Birmingham. This year’s Dobson Ambassador, 12-year-old Rebecca lives in Rochester and is very excited to attend the evening at The Royal Park along with her family. Her dream is a magical trip to Atlantis in the Bahamas where she can swim with the dolphins and have fun with her parents and four brothers and sisters!

McCarter explains that, in addition to making dreams come true, “The Rainbow Connection provides support services, information and referral, special holiday get-togethers and picnics, and college scholarships for wish children. We are very proud to have been awarded the top rating by Charity Navigator again this year.”

All proceeds of The Dobson will benefit the children and families at The Rainbow Connection. To learn more about The Rainbow Connection, make reservation for The Dobson, or donate to make dreams come true for kids like Rebecca, go to rainbowconnection.org or call 248-601-9474.
