The Sound of Hope

A group of multi-talented children from Durban, South Africa settlements, have discovered a purpose to tell others about the plight of orphans and vulnerable children in the informal settlements of Durban. They have come to realize that their voices matter, and that their voices they carry the sound of hope. The Key of Hope choir, “The Sound of Hope”, will see a dream come true on their 3rd World Tour beginning on November 17, 2017. The Sound of Hope children’s choir is an opportunity for the children to express themselves to the world through music, song and dance.

For the millions of orphans and vulnerable children in South Africa, living with poverty, and AIDS, along with high rates of rape and murder means living with tremendous despair and destitution, but it also means living with constant fear. There is fear of tomorrow, fear of sickness and disease, fear of hunger, fear of lack, fear of tragedy, and fear of death. South Africa’s children are used to being afraid. Darkness surrounds them. Hope eludes them.

Key of Hope was founded to change all of this through the power of God’s love. Key of Hope is dedicated to providing long-term mentoring relationships to orphans and other vulnerable children in Durban, South Africa. The heart of our mission is to bring the life changing love of God to these children – not only through solid Gospel teaching, but also in tangible ways that demonstrate that love to them.

“Our choir tours are an incredible way to prove to these kids that anything is possible” says Dan Smither, the founder and director of Key of Hope, whose hometown is Rochester, Michigan. “Hopeful encouragement about following your dreams is important, but they only go so far. At some stage, we all need to experience what we’ve been taught and this is one way were enabling them to do just that.”

The Sound of Hope Tour comes to several Michigan venues from November 17, 2017 through January 3, 2018. Most of their stops are intimate choir performances at community locations – churches and schools – including Oakland University and Oakland Christian School. However, two of their events are larger holiday fundraisers – The Hope and Holly Gala is December 1 in Southfield and Tea of Hope is in Auburn Hills.
