The Road Commission for Oakland County will hold a pre-construction public informational meeting Feb. 29 about its plans for improving Tienken Road from Livernois to Sheldon. The meeting will be held in the Stoney Creek High School Media Center from 4-7 p.m. Enter the school via north entrance.
At the meeting, preliminary project plans will be available for review, and staff will be available to provide project status information. The meeting will be “open house” format, with no formal presentation. Anyone can attend any time between 4 and 7 p.m. to ask questions and review the preliminary plans.
Starting in spring of 2013, the plan calls for adding a continuous center left-turn lane and a roundabout at Livernois and Tienken. During the project, sections of Tienken will be closed
to through traffic, although access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.
Specific closure dates have not yet been determined. During the first stage of the project, Tienken is tentatively planned to be closed to through traffic from east of Livernois to west of Rochester Road. During the second phase, Tienken will be closed to through traffic west of Livernois, and Livernois will be closed north of Tienken.
Also during this stage, Tienken Road will be closed to through traffic from east of Rochester Road to west of Sheldon Road. Courtland and Lakeview may be closed at Tienken during this phase.
The anticipated completion date is fall 2013. For more information call RCOC at (877) 858-4804 or e-mail via the RCOC Web site, www.rcocweb.org.
