Shop unique and trendy hand-crafted items at the Artisan Market on Saturday, November 9 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Entry is $1 at the door, which benefits the Older Persons’ Commission (OPC) Enrichment & Arts Department.
The public is welcome to attend this boutique style sale which will be located in the gym at 650 Letica Dr., in Rochester. There will be over 75 talented vendors selling a wide variety of arts and crafts including custom jewelry, hand-thrown pottery, artisan cards, Christmas decor, fused glass, mosaic tiles, paintings, prints, and more. This is a perfect opportunity to shop for holiday gifts that cannot be found in stores.
There will be a number of returning artists, many of whom have developed a strong local following. Artisans such as Tom Wencel and Patty Dow are both longtime exhibitors who will once again be offering their handcrafted items for sale. Wencel explains of his handmade jewelry, “I enjoy sharing the story of the stones and how I’ve created the pieces I’m selling.” Dow commented that the market is a platform for her to exhibit her pieces and share her work. The level of quality and skill involved with each creation is made clear through vendors like Patty Dow and Tom Wencel.
Throughout the years, the OPC has developed a rich art program and is excited to celebrate local talent, so much of which has been fostered in classes at the facility. All funds raised from the $1 entry fee will be used towards furthering the Arts and Enrichment Department at the OPC, and for helping older adults discover their hidden creative talents.
