Senior Trip to the Detroit Auto Show
Experience an automotive event unlike any other on January 17 with an Older Persons’ Commission trip to the Detroit Auto Show from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. At the Detroit Auto Show individuals will have the opportunity to see up-close the vehicles and technologies that will shape the future automotive landscape. From muscle and electric cars to high-performance supercars and trucks, the Auto Show has something for everyone. Lunch is on your own from plenty of options in Cobo. Motor coach. Cost is $49. Parade Company & Fisher Building Tour
Venture into the magical Parade Company on February 8, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and experience a behind the scenes look at America’s Thanksgiving Parade. Learn about the Parade’s fascinating history, explore the 200,000 square-foot storyland of floats and see how their award-winning artisans bring them to life. Included lunch is assorted pizzas and salads at the original Buddy’s Pizza. Following lunch we’ll enjoy a Pure Detroit guided tour of Detroit’s largest art object-the Fisher Building. Built in 1928, learn intimate details and see firsthand the exquisite design of the interior arcade including one-of-a-kind mosaics, breathtaking fresco ceilings, Art Deco chandeliers and some of the era’s finest craftsmanship in stone, brass and bronze. The Older Persons’ Commission is a non-profit state-of-the-art senior community center for people 50+ in Rochester, MI. OPC offers nutrition and transportation services, senior resources, health and wellness programs, leisure travel, performing arts and intergenerational programs. The Health and Wellness Department amenities include a cardio and weight room, lap and therapy pool, fitness classes, walking track, personal training, Crittenton Wellness Center and full size gym.
