Most everyone who relies on Tienken Road to get around is painfully aware that it is currently closed between Livernois and Rochester Roads while the second phase of the construction project that started last year rolls on until at least September.
Now, the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has announced that Tienken Road from Adams Road to Livernois Road will close to traffic on Monday, June 15 through approximately Friday, August 7 while it undergoes construction.
Much like with the Livernois to Rochester Road construction, local access to business and residences will be maintained during the closure. The detour is Adams Road to University Drive/Walton Boulevard back to Tienken Road and vice versa. The Tienken and Adams Road intersection will not be closed during the construction; however, it will be resurfaced in stages and flaggers will direct traffic during this phase of the project.
The $5.3 million project is funded by RCOC, City of Rochester Hills, federal funds and Oakland County general government through the Tri-Party Program.
The project will include:
- Replacement of the existing pavement
- Replacement of concrete curbs and gutters
- Drainage improvements
- Improvements to the asphalt pathway along the road
- New traffic light at Tienken and Grandview/Brookwood Lane
- Traffic light upgrades at Tienken/Brewster and Tienken/Adams
- Construction of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant pedestrian crosswalk ramps
The contractor for the project is Dan’s Excavating of Shelby Township.
Thanks for reminder. It’s gonna be a busy summer on the roads!
