The Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library is staging the springtime version of their popular used book, media and games sale. And the watch words are: “Think Big.”
In all, 35,000-40,000 items—with large print books in particular abundance—will be available starting Wednesday, April 26 through Sunday, April 30. The sale takes place at the Friends’ second floor used book sale facility at Rochester Hills Public Library, 500 Olde Towne Road in downtown Rochester. Cash, checks and charge card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) payments are accepted.

Except for a few higher quality items that are priced individually, all hardcover and large softcover books are $1, paperbacks are 50 cents. Also available are many DVDs, CDs, books on CD, games and VHS tapes that are also inexpensively priced.
The order of sale follows the usual pattern: The first day is a presale for members of the Friends group, the library’s donor support arm. They get first look at the stock Wednesday, April 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Memberships — individual $20; family $35; Student/Senior $10; Senior Couple $20— are available at the door.)
Afterward, public sale hours (which differ slightly from the library’s hours) are:
- Thursday, April 27, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Friday, April 28, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Saturday, April 29, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, April 30, 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday is also Bag Day, where buyers can fill a grocery bag (provided by the Friends) with remaining items for $5 a bag.
Questions about the sales can be left via voice mail 248-650-7178.
The Friends group is the Library’s primary volunteer support group, raising funds for various library needs from these sales and other fund-raising events throughout the year.
