Featured guests include Air Force Lt. Col. Sara Blackmer and Army Lt. Col. Calvin Gross, both Van Hoosen parents, who will speak about the importance of honoring the sacrifices made by our service men and women, both past and present. Van Hoosen will also pay tribute to teacher Paul Jakey, a veteran of the armed forces, along with any additional veterans in attendance. The ceremony will conclude at 2:20 p.m. with the Van Hoosen 8th grade band playing patriotic marches.

In addition to the silent dismissal and flagpole ceremony, both featured speakers will address 8th Grade U.S. History students during an assembly at 12:35 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The presentation is open to the public, but reservations are required. Please call 248-726-4900.
