Great Oaks founded in 1971 and nestled in the rolling hills of Oakland County, in the heart of Rochester, Michigan, Great Oaks Country Club is one of metro Detroit’s best kept secrets. Once a Black Angus farm, Great Oaks was purchased from Howard McGregor, a prominent business man of the Rochester Area, by the Slavik family in 1968 for development. In 1971 Great Oaks Country Club was opened featuring the famous McGregor Mansion as the Clubhouse. Towering oak trees lined the boulevard to the clubhouse, providing it with its name. With continued growth the mansion was replaced with current 43,000 square foot clubhouse in 1989. Since then Great Oaks has become the social hub of Rochester and the only private family-centric, truly member owned club in the area.
