Via Linda Salon & Spa Presents THE FIRST EVER SUSTAINABLE BEAUTY DAY: June 20, 2011

The Sustainable Beauty Day, June 20,  will be a fruitful and charitable salon initiative launched by Davines. Sustainable Beauty Day is an international partnership between Davines and The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation. Built upon a perfect balance of beauty and sustainability, Davines’ commitment to minimize environmental impact spans from the ethically sourced natural ingredients they choose to their eco-friendly headquarters in Parma, Italy.

Sustainable Beauty Day:
A global effort to protect the environment and the community around us.
A local effort to support the community we live in.

In keeping with their dedication to environmental responsibility, Via Linda Salon & Spa, Michigan’s  Davines Concept Spa, has joined forces with The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, a unique charity that benefits impoverished communities through the planting of fruit trees. By planting fruit trees in communities worldwide, The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation elevates an environmental project to the level of social sustainability.
During Sustainable Beauty Day salons across the country that are typically closed on Mondays will open their doors on June 20 to offer their clients and the community cut and styling services free of charge. Each client will be encouraged to make a $15 minimum donation for the service and 100% of the proceeds will benefit The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation. Davines and The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation strive to raise $20,000 to fund a new fruit tree planting initiative called Sustainabilitree in the Sofala Province of Mozambique, Africa. Sustainabilitree stands to alleviate world hunger, combat global warming, strengthen communities, and improve the surrounding air, soil, and water quality.

In addition to the national efforts, all Davines product sales from the day will benefit the Women’s Fund, an endowment fund providing scholarships and funds to dozens of non-profit organizations and women in the Rochester area. Just Love, a non-profit organization in Rochester, will also be joining us on June 20. Just Love offers tee shirts, clothing, mugs and bumper stickers with the inspiring words of Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Dr. Martin Luther King and other wise voices, as a way to support and bring awareness to the people and organizations behind giving and charitable efforts.
