Vintage Base Ball Games come to Rochester Hills Museum

Vintage base ball captures the start of base ball fever in the United States during and after the Civil War. Matches are played according to the rules of the early 1860s, which means no gloves and exceptional gentlemanly behavior. Matches are nine innings, pitchers throw underhanded, and various terminology harkens back to the early days of this national past time. For additional information on the Grangers and to see a full schedule of matches visit

The Rochester Hills Museum is located at 1005 Van Hoosen Road, off Tienken Road between Rochester and Dequindre Roads. The Museum site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and features historic buildings, local history exhibits, and 16 acres of gardens and grounds bordered by Stoney Creek. For more information visit or call 248.656.4663.
