Walton Boulevard Traffic Shift Begins June 2

Walton Blvd. Culverts being Replaced

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to shift two-way traffic to the north half of Walton Blvd. between Squirrel and Adams roads in the communities of Rochester Hills and Auburn Hills on Saturday, June 2. The traffic shift is weather-dependent and could be delayed.

Subdivision entrances at Firewood and Bellarmine drives on the north side of Walton Blvd. will be closed for the duration of the project. Residents are advised to use Adams and Tienken roads to access the subdivision during the closure.

The closures are necessary to ensure traffic safety. The traffic signal at Firewood Drive will be temporarily deactivated.

The contractor for the project, Z Contractors, will begin the removal and replacement of three culverts on the south half of Walton Blvd. Once the culvert work is complete on the south side of the boulevard, two-way traffic will be shifted to the south half of the boulevard while the three culverts are removed and replaced on the north half.

This section of Walton Blvd. (between Squirrel and Adams roads) will also be resurfaced. The project is expected to conclude in late fall with the possibility of paving work being done in the spring of 2019.
