According to the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), the following projects may cause traffic delays on roads between June 19 and June 25 or may start shortly thereafter.
It is RCOC’s goal to conduct road improvement projects in a way that interferes with traffic as little as possible. This list includes both Road Commission projects and projects conducted by others, under permit, on roads under the jurisdiction of the Road Commission.
Please note: This information is subject to change. Projects can change from day to day, and traffic delays can develop in a matter of minutes due to weather, emergency situations, etc.
ROAD: Avon Road, Crooks Road to Livernois Road
Project: This section of Avon is closed while RCOC resurfaces the road. There are two detour routes for through traffic: Crooks to Hamlin to Livernois and back to Avon and vice versa and Adams to Walton to Livernois and back to Avon and vice versa. Once this section is completed, phase 2 will begin, which is the section between Crooks and Adams.

Completion Date: By July 1 (phase 1 completion only)
ROAD: Tienken Road, Livernois Road to the Paint Creek Trail
Project: This project involves reconstructing and widening the road to three lanes, with a continuous center left-turn lane and the construction of a roundabout at the Tienken/Livernois intersection. Work is expected to start in mid July. At that point, RCOC will close this section of Tienken. The detour route for through traffic will be Rochester Road to University Drive to Adams and back to Tienken and vice versa.

Completion Date: Nov. 15 (the second phase, from Rochester Rd. to the Paint Creek Trail will take place next year)
ROAD: Joslyn Road, Collier Road to I-75
Project: RCOC is resurfacing this road. During the project, some side streets will be closed at Joslyn at times during the project, but those roads have alternate access routes. One lane remains open in each direction.
Community: Auburn Hills
Completion Date: Mid-August
ROAD: Orion Road bridge over the Paint Creek
Project: Orion Road will be closed beginning June 23 between Snell and Gallagher roads while RCOC replaces this bridge. The detour route is Rochester Road to Stoney Creek Road and back to Orion Road and vice versa.

Completion Date: By Aug. 1
ROAD: Sheldon Road between Snell and Mead roads
Project: Consumers Energy has closed this section of Sheldon Road through June 25 to replace a pipeline. The detour route is Mead Road to Snell Road to Rochester Road and back to Sheldon and vice versa.

Completion Date: June 25
ROAD: Mead Road between Sheldon Road and Little Pine Lane
Project: Consumers energy will close this section of Mead Road from June 26 through July 1 to replace a pipeline. During the closure, the detour route will be Winkler Mill Road to Washington Road and back to Mead Road and vice versa.
