Wild Duck Derby at Art & Apples Festival

Wild Duck Derby Hosted by The Rochester Area Jaycees and Kiwanis Club of Utica-Shelby Township

The Rochester Area Jaycees and Kiwanis Club of Utica-Shelby Township will be hosting a special fundraiser to help fund both child-centered and community initiatives at this year’s Art and Apples Festival in Rochester. Additionally, a portion of the monies earned will also help support Paint Creek Center for the Arts. The festival takes place from September 9-11, at Rochester Municipal Park.

The Wild Duck Derby is a fundraiser that will allow individuals to purchase a rubber duck to race down Paint Creek on Sunday, September 11, in an attempt to win a prize. The top three prize baskets have been donated by local businesses and are worth $400-$600 in value. There are additional small prizes up for grabs as well. Individuals may purchase a rubber duck during the Art and Apples Festival at the Rochester Area Jaycees Wild Duck Derby booth – located across from the bridge from the duck pond (near the kids’ playground) – at the following times: Friday 9/9 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Saturday 9/10 from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. or Sunday 9/11 from 9:00 a.m. – 12 noon. Rubber ducks are $5 apiece or five ducks for $20. The Wild Duck Derby will take place at approximately 2p on Sunday 9/11, when all the ducks are released into Paint Creek at the bridge behind the pavilion located near the restrooms.

The Rochester Area Jaycees is a local chapter of the Michigan Jaycees which represents more than 1,500 young professionals, ages 21-40, in more than 25 chapters across the state Chapters develop and create community events, provide professional and personal trainings to members and help build today’s leaders.
