Wine & Beer Tasting April 12 with VIDEO

Rochester Rotary Annual Wine & Beer Tasting Raises Tens of Thousands for Charity

Rochester knows that Spring is coming when Rotary’s Wine & Beer Tasting tickets go on sale. Now in its 7th year, The Annual Wine & Beer Tasting has become a staple event in the community’s April calendar.

“The Wine & Beer Tasting is our biggest event of the year,” said event chair Kyle Johnson. “And it keeps getting bigger and better. We already have over 20 local restaurants sign up to provide delicious food and, of course, the wine and beer selections will be outstanding.”

The evening event will happen on Friday, April 12, starting at 6:30 p.m., at the Rochester Road Bordine’s store at the corner of Rochester and Hamlin Roads. It will feature several wine and beer tasting tables, food from over 20 local restaurants, a 50/50 Raffle to support Rochester Area Neighborhood House, and exquisite jewelry from Haig’s of Rochester.

Think Rotary is just a bunch of blue hairs? Think again. Event Chair Kyle Johnson and this year’s Club President, Rodney Hulbert, are both under 35, bringing even more energy and enthusiasm to the experience. Plus you can now buy tickets on the club’s website. If you buy online, your name will be on the list at the door.

“The money we raise goes straight to local charities and scholarships,” said club President Rodney Hulbert. “When you think about the impact that tens of thousands of dollars can make, it’s something we’re very proud of. Between ticket sales and the Silent Auction, we plan raise as much as $40,000. But we need everyone’s support to get there!”

The Silent Auction has become a truly remarkable part of the evening. Items have been known to include dinner and Royal Park Hotel date night packages, Week-long Stays at Condos in Florida, Rounds of Golf, Detroit Sports Tickets, and more.

As in past years, the fundraiser will take place at Bordine’s Nursery on Rochester Road. In addition to enjoying the food and drink, attendees will have a chance to preview the Bordine’s Spring Expo displays ahead of the public. Entertainment will be provided by the D&A Duo. Tickets are just $50 and you can buy them from any Rotarian, including Club Secretary Jeff Whitbey (jeff@whitbey.com), at the Bordine’s Store, or online.

Rochester Rotary is a local member club of Rotary International, a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service and encourages high ethical standards in all vocations.
