Winter Wonderland at the DDA and Downtown Rochester

Even though temperatures outside are still topping 90 degrees, it is a winter wonderland at the Rochester DDA Office.  Plans are well underway for the holiday season, which promises to be bigger and brighter (sorry, couldn’t help it) than ever before.  Here’s a sneak peek:

Mark your calendar for the Downtown Holiday Open House on November 20, 2010.  Businesses throughout downtown will host trunk shows and demonstrations, many offering special discounts for this day only.

In its fifth year, The Big, Bright Light Show continues to dazzle and delight kids of all ages.  The show will continue north on Main, with buildings between University and Paint Creek Bridge covered in the “big bright” effect.  Installation of the show begins on October 4th.

The 2010 Big, Bright Light Show Postcards are now available.  The postcards are free and can be picked up at the DDA Office, 308 ½ Main Street.

After a year hiatus, Rochester will see the return of the ever-popular Kris Kringle Market, December 3 – 5.  Inspired by the 700-year old tradition of the open-air Christmas markets throughout Europe, the event will feature one-of-a-kind shopping, specialty foods, fresh greens & wreaths and handcrafted gifts for the holidays.

Interested in supporting downtown?  We are currently seeking sponsors for all of our holiday events.  For more information, call the DDA Office at 248/656-0060.

See you downtown!
