Woman stops to check car’s tires, backpack taken from front seat

On Monday, Nov. 4, Rochester Police met with a woman who reported her backpack was stolen from her car, just before 8 a.m. The woman, a Rochester resident, had pulled over on University Drive near Pine Street to check her tires, which were on the driver’s side of the car. While looking at her car, the woman heard a noise from the other side of her vehicle and saw two men wearing hooded sweatshirts covering most of their faces. The one man opened her passenger side door, took her black leather backpack from the front seat and the two unidentified men took off running toward the Paint Creek Trail. According the report provided by the Rochester Police Department, the woman’s backpack contained cash, a credit card, and identification information along with cosmetics. The two larcenists are described as white males, 18- to 21-years old, clean-shaven and wearing black hooded sweatshirts, blue jeans and sneakers. Rochester Hills man arrested for showing up at wrong home, receives fine for disorderly intoxication

On Saturday, Nov. 2, a Fairview Lane resident called the Rochester Police Department because someone was trying to enter her home. The man, later identified as a 32-year-old Rochester Hills resident, was trying to unlock her front door with a set of keys. When police arrived, it was learned the man was heavily intoxicated and thought he was at his friend’s residence. The man had no idea how he arrived at the Fairview Lane home. Officers took him to the station for disorderly intoxication, where they gave the man a Breathalyzer test. He registered at 0.29 percent alcohol and was kept until sober. He received a disorderly intoxication citation.

23-year-old Troy woman arrested for drunk driving

Last week on Halloween night, Oct. 31, a Rochester Police officer arrested a 23-year-old Troy woman for drunk driving. The officer saw the woman leave the Kroger grocery store parking lot on 25 Mile Road near Dequindre Road without using her car’s headlights. The officer followed the woman and noticed she was crossing over the road’s centerline. He stopped her and later determined through field sobriety tests that she had been drinking, with a blood-alcohol content of 0.16 percent. She was kept until sober.

Medical office reports missing rug

On Tuesday, Oct. 29, the Rochester Police Department received a report of a stolen rug from a medical office on Oakwood Court. The night before, the common area rug usually found at the entrance, was stolen. The rug is described as maroon and valued at $500. There is no surveillance footage and there are no suspects at this time.
