Rochester Hills Public Library (RHPL), in partnership with Troy Public Library (TPL), will welcome New York Times bestselling author Lily King on Tuesday, June 22, at 7:00 p.m. for a discussion about her career and latest book, Writers & Lovers. The program will take place online over Zoom.
Space is limited to 250. To register, visit calendar.rhpl.org.
Called “a master psychological portraitist” by Publishers Weekly, King brings her deft and graceful characterization to stories that illuminate the inner workings of life’s most complicated relationships. Her debut novel, The Pleasing Hour, won the Barnes & Noble Discover Award and was a New York Times Notable Book. King was praised for her unsentimental style and piercing insight. But it was her fourth novel, Euphoria, that brought true breakout success.
“We’re thrilled at this opportunity to collaborate with TPL and to bring such a notable author to our patrons,” said Allison Sartwell, RHPL’s Head of Adult Services.
King’s latest novel is the New York Times bestselling Writers & Lovers, an unforgettable portrait of the artist as a young woman. NPR called the novel “winning … infused with heart and soul and wit and wisdom” (NPR).
King is the recipient of a MacDowell Fellowship and a Whiting Writer’s Award. Her short fiction, essays, and reviews have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Vogue, The Los Angeles Review of Books, One Story, The Harvard Review, Ploughshares, Glimmer Train, and several anthologies. Her novels are published in 20 languages.
