The four-session, experiential meditation workshop will teach participants proven methods—drawn from three meditative traditions—that can reverse the fragmenting influence of a multi-tasking culture on one’s ability to stay focused on the here and now, according to a press release.  These skills can be used in a daily practice to explore the potential of human consciousness as well as to relieve the stress and anxiety of everyday life.

Yoga Planet Studio owner Bobby Maldonado shares more about Veenhof’s book in a press release:

1unnamedIn his book, White Lama, Veenhof tells the story of Theos Bernard, a pioneer of Hatha Yoga, Tantra and Tibetan Buddhist philosophy in the West.  Bernard’s extraordinary life, works, and tragic disappearance are chronicled in a stirring work of narrative nonfiction, loaded with rich characters such as Charles Lindbergh and Lowell Thomas and illustrated with fascinating original photographs from Bernard’s trip to Tibet, drawn from a collection described as the best photographic record of Tibet in existence.

Part biography, part adventure story and part history of the Tibetan people in a way that has never been told before, White Lama takes an intriguing look at Tibet in the first part of the 20th century and pays homage to the visionary man who introduced Tibetan Buddhism and Hatha Yoga to the Western world.

Veenhof has studied and practiced Buddhism for more than twenty years and graduated with honors from the seven-year program of advanced Buddhist studies at Diamond Mountain, the academy in the Arizona desert founded by Geshe Michael Roach. His workshops and philosophy modules for yoga teacher trainings in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia, are well known for the breadth and clarity of their presentations and insights drawn from cognitive science, developmental psychology, and quantum physics.
