Youth Hope Fest – Battle Against Teen Suicide

In response to the tragic teen suicides in Lake Orion, Oakland Christian Church (OCC) will host Youth Hope Fest September 9, 2012; doors open at 4:30 p.m.

“We are on the front lines with these local students who are going back to school after last year’s tragedies,” says OCC’s Pastor Dominic Russo. “We want the teens to know they have us in their corner, that we are here to support them and walk with them through these times. They have done a stellar job getting to this side of the tragedy and we continue to provide them with hope in their futures.”

Pastor Russo and his staff have been very outspoken in recent months about these tragedies. “We are fighting back against the suicide epidemic hitting these teens,” says Pastor Russo. OCC’s Youth Hope Fest concludes the Battle of the Bands events that OCC has been hosting over the summer. Judges from the music industry will vote to determine the winning bands based on performance, songwriting, audience reaction and overall energy. The winner of this finale event will receive a free recording and music video shoot sponsored by local Emmy-award winning marketing firm DBA Worldwide.  At the Battle of the Bands, OCC will be giving away free food, beverages and prizes. There is a $5 entrance fee to partially cover the costs of the event, with OCC donating the rest of expenses.
